Cashton Lions hope to ‘Stuff the Bus’ this Saturday

Posted

The Cashton Lions Club will be collecting supplies and monetary donations this Saturday at the Bank of Cashton, starting at 11 a.m. The Lions will also be serving food – brats, hamburgers, and pork chop sandwiches.

The Lions have been gathering and distributing school supplies for those in need for the last couple of years.

Last year, they raised enough money to cover $9-10 per student in the district, in addition to all of the supplies they collected.

“It gives us satisfaction when we see results. That’s why we do it.” said Cashton Lions Club President
John Bertling.

A list of supplies needed for students in the district can be found online at cashton.k12.wi.us.

PAYING THE PRICE

It’s no secret that the cost of notebooks, pencils, and even tissues has risen.

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), expected back-to-school spending added up to $41 billion in 2023. Last year, an American household expected to spend $890 on average.

Compared to ten years ago, 2014, expected household spending was at $669 while the nationwide total was $27 billion.
