Cashton area Memorial Day services set for May 27

Portland Lutheran Church to celebrate 150th anniversary

Memorial Day services will be held in the Cashton area on Monday, May 27, 2024 by the Cashton American Legion and the Cashton Veterans of Foreign Wars. A short service will be conducted at each of the following sites (times are estimated): 

Melvina Cemetery at 9:00 a.m.; St. Mary’s Ridge at 9:20 a.m.; Pine Hollow at 9:35 a.m.; Sacred Heart Cemetery at 9:50 a.m.; Home Cemetery at 10:20 a.m.; Brush Creek at 10:35 a.m.; Sand Hill Cemetery at 10:50 a.m.; Bad Axe at 11:10 a.m.; Clinton Ridge at 11:25 a.m.; Cashton Veterans Memorial at 11:45 a.m.; Pioneer Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.; Moen Cemetery at 12:15 p.m.; Portland German Lutheran at 12:30 p.m.; Portland Lutheran at 12:45 p.m. 

Firing squad members, Legion and VFW members should meet at the VFW clubrooms by 8:30 a.m.

CHURCH DINNER

The Portland Lutheran Church is celebrating their 150th anniversary on Memorial Day. A short gathering of guests and members will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Organ music will be played by Mary Jernander Bishop. At 10 a.m., Pastor Pat Zeims will deliver a message, and communion will begin at 10:45 a.m. Dinner begins at 11  a.m.

On the menu are barbecue sandwiches, potato salad, other salads, and desserts. There is no cost to the meal, but a free will offering will be collected.
