Summer heats up with bevy of events

Pasture Pride open house this Friday, Saturday

There’s no shortage of  things to do in the area, and with the second half of summer in full swing, local events and festivals just around the corner.

PASTURE PRIDE OPEN HOUSE

This Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13,  the Pasture Pride Cheese Store will be hosting a open house. The first 50 customers through the door will receive a free insulated cooler and ice cream cone token. There will be daily specials, free samples, hourly gift card giveaways and a grand prize drawing. A scavenger hunt will provide entertainment for the young cheese lovers.

Pasture Pride Cheese is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. They are located off Hwy 27 south of the roundabout at 111 Eagle Dr., Cashton.

WILTON WEENIE DAYS

The inaugural Wilton Weenie Days takes place this weekend, in lieu of the now-defunct Wilton Fest, and it’s predecessor Wilton Wood Turtle Days.

The annual village celebration was moved from it’s traditional date during the first weekend of August to the second weekend of July to coincide with the tractor pull. The weekend of activity includes youth baseball, softball, and volleyball tournaments, as well as fireworks, a parade, and the Wilton Sportsmen’s Club tractor pull capping off the weekend.

3D BOW SHOOT

St. Mary’s Ridge Sportsmen’s Club 20th annual 3D bow shoot is taking place on Saturday, July 20. The 28 3D Rinehart target walking archery course is set-up on St. Mary’s Ridge church grounds. Registration begins at 6 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m. Raffles and prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m.

Food will start being served at 9 a.m. with carryouts available.

MELVINA FROG DAYS

Right around the bend is the annual Frog Days festival in Frog Town, U.S.A.

The three-day celebration begins on Friday, August 2 and goes through Sunday, August 4. Softball and volleyball tournaments will take place, as well as a 5k fun run/walk, relay event, and the highly-anticipated frog races.
