Cashton’s Brett Hemmersbach and Bangor’s Chase Horstman took part in some unforgettable clashes on the gridiron as part of a golden age of the Bangor-Cashton football rivalry. Before they fully say farewell to their high school athletic careers, however, Hemmersbach and Horstman will represent their respective rival schools one more time, but with the added twist of them being teammates.

Hemmersbach and Horstman are each taking part in the 2024 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) All-Star Games, set to be held on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 at UW–Oshkosh’s Titan Stadium.

In addition to serving as a showcase of the best graduating high school senior football players in the state, the all-star festivities also play the role of fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, with participating players and coaches helping raise money for the cause.

Hemmersbach and Horstman are each on the roster for the Small School South team.

As seniors, both of them were named to the All-Scenic Bluffs first team as both a running back and an inside linebacker. Hemmersbach was additionally named the 2023 Scenic Bluffs Conference Player of the Year for his role in helping lead the Eagles to a second straight unbeaten run through conference play.

Hemmersbach was also a first-team all-conference selection on defense as a junior. Horstman garnered second-team honors on defense that same year.

There will be three games played during the upcoming all-star weekend: the Eight-Player All-Star Game on Friday at 6 p.m., the Small School All-Star Game Saturday at 12 p.m. and the Large School All-Star Game Saturday at 4 p.m.

The two Saturday games are going to be aired on Bally Sports Wisconsin and through the Bally Sports app. Zaleski Sports will stream the Eight-Player All-Star Game on Friday evening.
