Cashton’s Wall stepping down as boys basketball coach

Scot Wall patrolled the sidelines during what was unquestionably the golden years of the Cashton boys’ basketball program. But starting next winter, a new head coach will take the Eagles into the era ahead.

Wall is retiring as the Cashton head coach of the boys’ varsity basketball team, closing the book on a tenure that saw the Eagles reach heights never before achieved in program history.

When Wall took over prior to the start of the 2018-19 season, Cashton had posted 15 consecutive losing seasons. In the six years of Wall’s tenure, the Eagles went 112-39 (.742) overall with a 64-20 (.762) mark in Scenic Bluffs play

The first five seasons under Wall had already produced a level of consistent success that Cashton hadn’t come close to this century, but this past season was the cherry on top to this excellent run. The Eagles posted a school-record 25 wins this past winter and added some elusive hardware to the trophy case by winning their first regional title since 2000.

An 80-77 loss in the sectional finals to eventual Division 5 state champion Columbus Catholic denied Cashton its first state tournament appearance in program history, but the Eagles had nothing to hang their heads about after a phenomenal effort on the biggest stage of their careers.

As it turned out, it was the farewell to both a prolific senior class and the head coach who oversaw an era that Cashton fans aren’t soon to forget.

Lukaszewski part of SBC volleyball coaching upheaval

For fans of Scenic Bluffs volleyball, things will be looking a whole lot different on the sidelines this fall thanks to half the conference changing head coaches. Cashton is among those schools following the departure of Luke Lukaszewski after five seasons at the helm for the Eagles.

With Lukaszewski gone, in steps Khris Kleba as Cashton’s new head coach. He’ll be one of several new faces on the sidelines throughout the conference.

Wonewoc-Center’s Nikki Justman chose to step aside after a storybook run that saw the Wolves make it to three straight state tournaments before finally capturing a state championship last fall. Lindsey Farber steps in as her successor.

New Lisbon’s Kelsey Rego stepped down and was replaced by Bobbi Ulrich (previously the head coach at Tomah) and Brookwood’s Dawn Waddell is gone as well.
